Anthony Grant “Tony” Bloom is the definition of a jack of all trades. But unlike most, he’s not a master of none. He’s a master of all. Don’t believe us? Here, take a look.
He’s a philanthropist.
Despite being born to a well to do family, a kind heart was inherent in Tony. In 2011, he set up the Tony Bloom Charitable Trust later known as the Bloom Foundation. With the objective of ending poverty and alleviating its effects, he founded the organization with four other trustees: Linda Bloom, Adam Franks, Marc Sugarman and Marcelle Lester. The charity it offers and makes grants to various causes, projects, organizations and efforts that focus on health, education and training, livelihood and employment, food, water, safety, famine relief, overseas aide and community development among others. Furthermore, he co-founded the Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis Foundation with his wife Linda to help, guide and support patients all over the world suffering from MS.
He’s a football club chairman.
As of May in 2009, Tony became the Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club chairman officially succeeding Harry Dick Knight. But before this, he was already a major stockholder and investors since the year 2000. From a family of ardent football club aficionados and supporters of the club, it was not a surprise that he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather Harry who was deputy-chairman for 7 years during the 70s and his uncle Ray who has since been a director during the 80s. Two of his principal and groundbreaking projects were the 30,750 capacity American Express Community Stadium and the fully equipped American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.
He’s a successful businessman.
Before he became a football chairman, Tony Bloom began as an options trader in accountancy firm Earnest & Young. As he bid the company goodbye a few years later, he ventured into stock and property investments and entrepreneurial ventures. All of which prospered which made him the financially successful businessman he is today.
He’s a loving husband and father.
Tony Bloom is likewise a loving husband to his wife Linda, an Australian born psychologist who specialized in counseling and hypnotherapy, to whom he has a son with. More than a decade ago, Linda suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and Tony was a devoted a caring husband to her, taking care of her until she got her condition under control. Plus on top of that, he co-founded the OMS Foundation with her.
